Essay about Renewable and Clean Energy - 1611 Words
As these days global warming, pollutions and fuel shortages are getting more and more serious through time, renewable and clean energy is increasingly the ideal solution to energy related problems we have to solve one way or another. Biofuel is currently one of the mainstream and highly supported solutions, an idea to make renewable fuel by living organisms such as fiber, corn, vegetable oil or sugarcane. Biofuels, unlike nonrenewable fossil fuels over extracted by people, contains the potential to tackle most of the problems people encounter when using fossil fuels. This makes renewable fuels making it a cleaner source of energy, and a better option than fossil fuels that will ran out shortly sooner or later. For example, corn ethanol is currently encountering technical limitations serving it as a standalone fuel, meaning that corn ethanol can only function by combining it with a certain amount of gasoline, while gasoline is a kind of fossil fuel. Finally, this essay will conduct a comparison with other renewable resources in the world, including solar power, other biofuels, and hydrogen fuel. The most noticeable advantage of corn fuel as an enhancement of fossil fuels is also the biggest advantage of ethanol energy a renewable fuel. Gasoline as a fuel is extracted from petroleum, and what makes petroleum an unreliable source of energy is that petroleum is nonrenewable, meaning it would run out some day in the future. Contrary, corn ethanol is a renewable source of energy, meaning if corns are replanted and remade into fuel, corn ethanol can be a long-term, sustainable energy source (gracelinks.org). Corn ethanol has the potential to produce a perfect solution of the energy crisis that will happen sooner or later, as experts predicted petroleum will run out in around fifty years (Gupta,p15). Another main benefit of corn fuel as the future fuel is that theShow MoreRelatedThe Energy, Clean Renewable Energy902 Words à |à 4 Pagesseems to be right within humanities grasp? The Cold War During World War II Essay - 1632 Words
The Cold War was a clash of culture, ideologies, and a standoff between the world s two greatest nuclear powers. The argument of the American side was based around Capitalism and a hunger for ever growing business while the Soviet Unionââ¬â¢s was structured around Communism and itââ¬â¢s powerful theocracy that stated it must be spread to every country on the planet. As a result, there has been much debate about whether the U.S. initiated the Cold War through their usage of the atomic bomb in World War II, or the Soviet Union did with their extreme cultural and military expansion. However, the phrasing of the original question makes this clear from a schoolyard fight perspective. It comes down to who threw the first punch? Without a doubt, it was the United States, using the most powerful weapon known to mankind in an attempt to put Japan down for good and flex their muscles as a new world power. The United Statesââ¬â¢ dropping of the nuclear bomb, a weapon of mass destructio n, in an effort to quickly take Japan out of the war had many more side effects than originally anticipated. For one, it incited the Soviet Union to fast-track their research and production of nuclear weapons, which led to a tense situation between them and the United States. Mid Term Break Essay free essay sample
Heaney emphasises the sadness of the occasion by describing the coffin surrounded with snowdrops and candles , which he says ââ¬Å"soothe the bedsideâ⬠. The fact that he hasnââ¬â¢t seen his brother for six weeks makes it seem somehow worse. The response of the rest of his family also highlights how sad it is: his father crying must have been such a shock to Heaney, we donââ¬â¢t expect grown men to cry and Heaney emphasises that he normally expects his father to cope. The fact that his mother is ââ¬Ëcoughing out angry tearless sighsââ¬â¢ suggest that she is trying to hold in the grief and emotion. He describes his brothers wound as a ââ¬Ëpoppyââ¬â¢ This is an effective metaphor because it suggests the colour and shape of the bruise but it also has echoes of remembrance day and all the pointless loss of young life in war ââ¬â poppies are symbols of remembrance. We will write a custom essay sample on Mid Term Break Essay or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Heaney leaves the final line to deliver the biggest shock ââ¬Å"A four foot box, a foot for every yearâ⬠s a reader you finally reaslise how old his brother was and it makes it even more depressing because he was such a young child. The fact that this line is separate makes it stand out and the single syllables and alliteration make the whole thing sink in very quickly due to the simplicity. On My First Sonne by Ben Jonson is depressing in a similar way because it also deals with the death of a child but Jonsonââ¬â¢s poem is different to Heaneyââ¬â¢s because itââ¬â¢s from the point of view of the father rather than the brother. Jonson also shows a lot more emotion about it all, he says ââ¬Å"O, could I lose all father now. â⬠What he means here is that he may have lost his son but the feelings of being a father havenââ¬â¢t gone away; he wishes they would so he doesnââ¬â¢t feel the pain of grief; the fact that he writes ââ¬Å"Oâ⬠at the beginning of the line shows us itââ¬â¢s full of feeling. Heaney doesnââ¬â¢t really seem to describe his feelings, apart from his embarrassment when people treat him like an adult ââ¬â perhaps heââ¬â¢s still in shock. Jonsonââ¬â¢s poem is particularly depressing because he describes his son as ââ¬Å"his best piece of poetryâ⬠ââ¬â this metaphor suggest his son was the thing he was most proud of and the best thing he ever created. It depressing because his sonââ¬â¢s dead and it implies heââ¬â¢ll never feel the same way about anything again. On the train by Gillian Clarke is a very different poem which describes a rail crash. This time emotions are really raw and full. She describes people realising their loved ones have died using the words ââ¬Å"the wolves howl into silent telephonesâ⬠this metaphor of wolves howling suggests people screaming in anguishâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ ¦Ã¢â¬ ¦.
